Every couple of years our Troop 540 (founded in 1964 and one of the oldest Troops in Cobb County) organizes a church-wide camp out on the Green.
Come out all day Saturday November 3rd and see our Scouting Program in action at Due West United Methodist Church. We will be hosting a Campout on the Green where all of the great scouting programs at Due West will be show cased on the activity field for the weekend. The camp will be set-up jamboree style with activities to be viewed and participated in for the whole family, so stop by and see what the scouts are up to on this exciting weekend. A sample of activities that will be taking place that weekend is:

– Capture the Flag
– Mother / Son Campfire Desert Competition
– Blind-Folded Tent Setting Up
– Life Size Angry Birds
– Soap Box Design / Build / Race
– Cub Scout Carnival
– Human Fusball Game
– Cooking Competition
– Sunday Sunrise worship service
All of our chartered Scouting units (Pack, Troop & Crew 540 and American Heritage Girls Troop 4224) will participate so expect to see 200+ youth and adult leaders over the course of the weekend. Scouting focuses on building youth leaders and teaching personal responsibility through dynamic programs.
A special flag retirement ceremony will be conducted by the Sons of the American Revolution starting at sunset (6:45pm) on Saturday at the pavilion. All veterans and the congregation as a whole are invited to attend. Feel free to bring any old or tattered flags to the ceremony and they will be properly disposed of. If you can’t attend simply drop off yours flags at the Scout Hut.
Arrive at 9AM Saturday November 3rd to start setting up. Please bring $5 per person to cover food costs. Detailed schedule information is available in the Evite.
