Fishing at Camp Westin – 6/21 at 8:30am
Grab your bait, we’re headed to the beautiful BSA property at Camp Westin on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. Sitting right off Lake Allatoona, Camp Westin sports a pavilion down near the Crow and Seminole campsites, where we will have lake access and be able to fish for the morning. Please park in the appropriate areas per the map. Bring your fishing gear, a chair, a water, and maybe a morning snack if you like, and we’ll fish from 8:30-10:30am.

Service Day – 7/26 at 8am
Every year, we provide some landscaping services to our neighboring school, Due West Elementary. This year, on Saturday, July 26th 2025, we’ll be helping them get ready for the upcoming school year. Expect to bring your rakes, brooms, and weeding gear, along with bug spray and work gloves. Standby for more details…We’ll start at 8am!

Recycled Raingutter Regatta – 8/17 at 3pm
Get ready to sail at the Due West Pavilion on Sunday, August 17th at 3pm-4:40pm. Not only will we be racing our recycled boats, (no more than 5″x7″) we will be stamping our leather neckerchief slides from crossover!
Grab your recycling bin and get creative! Build yourself a boat or raft with a SAIL. Need some guidance on building your boat? Check out the rules or a past race (with lots of examples).
- The boat must be newly built for the current Cub Scouting year.
- NO motors allowed. Only wind sails will power the boats. (fun foam, index card, plastic lid)
- Additional parts such as Lego Man Drivers or decals, paint, stickers, and glue are permitted. Make sure the decor follows the spirit of Scouting.
- The finished boat length must be no longer than 8″ and no wider than 5″ (the race lane is 6″ wide)
- The mast may not be higher than 7” from the deck.
- The sail may not be in contact with any part of the boat except the mast.
- Helpful tips – make sure your boat has a rudder to sail straight. Test it out in the bathtub!
Two scouts will race against each other at a time. Each boat must start with the back of the boat touching the end of the rain gutter; the scout should hold it there with one hand. When the starter says go, the kids will propel the boats by blowing on the sail with a drinking straw. THE SCOUT MAY NOT ADVANCE THE BOAT WITH A HAND or STRAW AT ANY TIME. If a boat gets broken or sinks during a race, the results stand. GOOD LUCK, and happy boat building!
