Welcome back Pack families.
We are happy to announce that we have once again secured the use of the Scout Hut at Due West Methodist for the school year for 99% of the Cub Scout functions. What an honor it is to have access to such a piece of local history and one of the only remaining scout huts in the area. Thanks DWUMC for the continued support.
It’s recruiting season for Cubscouts and we NEED YOUR HELP. We are a small but mighty little pack but need to ensure we can continue with the 50+ year heritage that exists here at pack 540. If you sons / daughters have 1-5 grade friends that would like to join us please send them our way. Are you a current scout at Pack 540? We will take 10% of your annual dues for each scout you bring our way! Bring 10 and your scout year is 100% paid AND we will pay for your 2018 summer camp!!
We can be contacted at email@example.com and found on the web here at duewestcubscouts.com or pack540.net!

I still can’t believe today was day one.
Even more unbelievable, we have a 4th grader.
Well folks… here we go!
A couple of key dates and details as we enter the school year.
First and foremost, we have been able to secure space again this year at the church for our meetings. We have also been very lucky to have been granted access to the Scout Hut for some of our meetings this year. A very cool opportunity!
We are also happy to introduce you all to Giovanni Pipia, our Tiger Den leader for the year. Thanks Giovanni for your time and commitment to the program. We are happy to have you!
Pack dues stay the same this year at $125 per scout. We will also be asking for support via several fundraising opportunities throughout the year and will, as in the past ask for fees for certain events. We will collect these dues at the August den meetings. We ask that all payments are in by mid September this year as we have some near term financial commitments that need to be handled.
HInt: We are working on an overnight at the Chattanooga Aquarium!!
As we did last year, we take plastic via Square. We will ask that you round up to cover the 3% transaction fee however. Links will be placed online and we will have readers at the events this weekend and den meetings etc.
3 Key Dates for August:

Pack 540 Families,
Hope you are all off to a great start for summer.
We wanted to invite you all to a fun Saturday morning event if you are around.
We will meet up at the parking lot on Burnt Hickory at Old Mountain Rd for the Kennesaw Mtn trail and venture down to Noses Creek.
When down there, we will have the boys spend about 15 minutes building a “boat” from natural materials found along the shore. We will have bit of twine and a few other simple items (scissors etc) with us to assist.
The boys will then GET IN THE WATER (dress appropriately, parents may want to as well) and have the 1st annual Pack 540 Woodland Regatta. We will race the boats in a heat format a few at a time until we have a first second and third place boat.
We will also spend some time after the race to clean up the creek area a bit. We will have trash bags with us for that.
Again, please dress appropriately.
Water shoes, sandals etc.
We will meet at the parking lot at 8:30 and expect to return around 10am. This is a bit of an early start, but want to get there with a good possibility for parking as it tends to get a bit crowded. RSVP here.
As stated at the last pack meeting, this would be a GREAT opportunity to bring a friend or two that may be interested in scouting this coming school year. All are welcome.
