When all the cub scouts big and small,
Dress up in costumes one and all…
And answer tricks to get something sweet,
We know it’s time for Tent-or-Treat!

When: October 8, 2023, 3-4:30pm
Where: Upper Parking Lot at Due West Church (farthest from Due West Road/Scout Hut; near Building A, and Burnt Hickory Road)
What to Bring: a tent, Halloween decorations, your scouts in costumes with a treat bag, and tailgate chairs for you. **Please, no homemade treats to help us avoid allergy issues**

What to expect:
-Expect 80-100 trick-or-treaters. Treats can be pre-packaged candy or “teal pumpkin” items like stickers, spider rings, etc.
– You can set up your tent no earlier than 2:30 p.m. Decorate it with a fun Halloween or Fall theme.
– No blood & guts or excessively bloody/violent costumes or decor, please, since we have young cubs attending.
– We’ll have spots marked for you in the lot, which is the large lot adjacent to Burnt Hickory Rd.
– Remember to bring something to weigh your tent down because we cannot drive tent pegs into the parking lot.
– We will meet in the center of the tent-or-treat trail to open the meeting and hand out awards.
– Each tent should have a designated, adult “treat manager” who is the only person handing out candy.
– Scouts will answer questions/perform activities at each tent (we’ll provide these or you can submit your jokes/activities ahead of time for leader approval) to win their treats.
Examples include: make a silly face, give me an example of a scout being cheerful, tell me a knock-knock joke, what do “wolf ears” mean, etc.
Cleanup 4-4:30 p.m.
Around 4pm, we’ll take all the tents down, make a trash cleanup, and close the meeting. Every scout should expect to stay until the entire tent-or-treat site is clear.
