Let’s go camping! The Trailblazer Event for the Atlanta Area Council is coming up in October and we’re ready to roll. If you are interested in this whole-family camping event, please register!
Trailblazer Adventure Camp is a day full of fun for Cub Scouts and their families this Fall at Bert Adams Scout Camp. The members of the Order of the Arrow invite you to attend an exciting and fun-filled weekend including BBs, archery, games and more. Learn Native American History and join us in the dance ring. Learn how to cast a fishing rod. Bring your best skits and join us for a campfire Saturday evening.
What to expect
Come as a Pack or as a family. Siblings are welcome to join in all of the fun activities! You will want to pack well and bring everything you will need at a bare campsite. Please refer to our “Let’s Go Camping” post with a full packing list. This year’s Trailblazer program will include:
- Cub Scout Advancement Opportunities
- Slingshots, BBs and Archery
- Native American Dancing, Drumming & TeePee Village
- Shows
- Crafts
- Campfire Show
Details
EVENT DATE: Oct. 4-6, 2019. Arrival in Camp Units should plan to arrive AFTER 6 PM Friday. There will be a staffed checkpoint where each car will be given directions/instructions.
LOCATION: Bert Adams Scout Camp, 218 Scout Road Covington, GA 30016
EVENT COST: $15 for Scouts or siblings age 5+, $5 per adult and Siblings age 4 and under. Meals will be an additional $5 per person: the Pack will be cooking them.
MEALS: Please bring your own breakfast and pack a lunchbox for Saturday. The Pack will be cooking Saturday Night Dinner and providing Breakfast on Sunday morning.

WHAT TO BRING: We will have a reserved camping site for our Pack to bring your own tents to camp (for one night or two) or come out for the day only (Saturday) to play. Please refer to our “Let’s Go Camping” post with a full packing list if you are unsure on how to pack.
POLICIES AND THINGS TO KNOW
Parking
You may drive cars to your assigned campsite to unload. Afterward, move cars to designated parking spaces in a paved parking lot. Do not park along the road by the campsites or in the campsites. On Saturday, all gates and roads near program areas will be closed to vehicle traffic during Saturday events (8:30-5:00 PM). Cars should be left in those designated parking areas. Gates will be reopened at 5:00 pm.
Advancement
Individual rank specific “Passports” will track requirements. At the end of each class, the instructor will announce the requirements that he or she was able to cover. Den leaders/parents may initial the sheets at their discretion as the instructor announces the requirements that were completed.
Medical
BSA Annual Health and Medical Record All participants in all Scouting activities complete Part A and Part B of the current BSA Annual Health and Medical Record. If you did not submit a form at the beginning of the year, please print out, fill, and return the form to your Den Leader.
Water
All in-pipe water in camp is potable. Please utilize these faucets to fill up water bottles as needed.
Rain Plan
The program will continue if it rains. All our program areas are located under shelter. Participants are encouraged to bring rain gear with them.
