SAR – BSA Flag Retirement Ceremony

Due West Methodist Church often has a wonderful flag retirement ceremony every year, to which the Troops (BSA), and the Pack are invited. Scouts often play an integral part in these ceremonies, placing portions of the flag into the fire as the flag retirement script is read by the Sons of the Revolution (SAR).

The American flags will have been respectfully dismantled and will be reverently burned to commemorate their service. This year’s ceremony will take place on Veteran’s Day, November 11th, 2022 at the Due West Methodist Church pavilion. Not much preparation is required, just your attendance and attention. All youth are welcome to participate. It might be wise to limit the age to 10 and above. Hopefully, most will have an opportunity to wear their class A uniforms.

Please dress for the weather (the evening may be cool) and some may want to bring a camping chair as there is limited seating in the amphitheater. Please join us!
